5 WHYS by SimpyPut

1. Why do people wear white athletic socks with anything other than tennis shoes?

2. Why do people you don’t really know voluntarily tell you all of their business?

3. Why do people you don’t really know feel like they are privy to information about you because they’ve voluntarily shared their life story?

4. Why do guys feel like it’s appropriate for them to approach you any kid of way? (I want to ask them: Really has that method ever worked for you in the past?)

5. Why do people try to carry out lengthy conversations with you when you are clearly engrossed in a book?

There you have it, 5 things that annoy me!

NO WONDER AMERICANS ARE SO OBESE!!! by OhSoSavvy

Grocery shopping is not my favorite thing to do but believe me, it was much needed. My fridge was bare! I made a decision to start cooking more at home. I do cook, and I cook good, but just not enough. I looked over my finances and discovered that last month I spent $330 just on dining out. I know, that is alot! It kinda disgusted me. I don’t eat fast food much, because when I do, it’s like I can feel my arteries clogging! Ugh! So when I don’t have food in the fridge, I just eat out at local restaurants. This is where the more healthy foods are…the grilled salmon, mixed veggies, sushi (even if it’s not I still love it), grilled tilapia etc. So I would end up spending $20 or so every time I ordered take out. On top of that, when friends wanna go out for lunch/dinner I never hesitate. Shame on me…I had to make a change. I decided this shortly after I read The Automatic Millionaire in conjunction with Suze Orman’s Young, Fabulous & Broke and the books mentioned knowing exactly where your money was going. So, like I said, when I found out how much of my money was going towards dining out, I was disgusted.

I needed a change so I went grocery shopping today. I love Publix, but really they are too expensive when buying a month’s worth of groceries and I didn’t have any coupons. So I visited good ole’ Walmart. I hate Walmart with a passion, but hey their prices are cheaper so I deal with it. Going up and down each aisle, I noticed that all the healthy foods I wanted were so much more expensive than the not-so-healthy foods with preservatives and such. For example, I only drink 100% fruit juice. The 100% orange juice was almost $3…the juice with only about 5% fruit juice was less than $1!!! That’s crazy to me! Even the low calorie Pringles were almost $2 more than the regular Pringles. Oh and don’t get me started on the fresh veggies.

I think it’s so sad that some Americans are forced to choose foods that may not be best for them, because these stores have healthier foods at a higher price! Some people don’t even stand a chance!!!! And stats show that the greatest number of obese Americans are where? You guessed it…the SOUTH! Gosh! Think about the children growing up that are missing out on essential fruits and veggies because parents can’t afford to buy healthy…they buy cheap. Thus the cycle continues. I need to find out if there is someone I can write to about this nonsense. I mean come on, why must we keep contributing to the fatness of our society. I saw 2 kids in Starbucks the other day with enormous ice cream cones…now, ice cream is cool sometimes, but the kids were already obese! And get this, the mom was as thin as a toothpick!

I understand that there are some things that will never change, so I’ll just keep on buying my healthy foods and try to keep myself out of the obese range (really working on that LOL!)…If I don’t do it who will?

LET’S TALK STANDARDS… by SimplyPut

Today I was accused of being too picky when it comes to dating guys. I’m not too picky I’ll just say as Steve Harvey mentioned in his Best Seller, “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” I just have STANDARDS! I’m selective. My latest Motto: Why settle for less when I can settle for the Best?

Although I wouldn’t pass up a 6 foot 1 inch professional, young, “upwardly mobile” brother with the completion of rich caramel, and an athletic build reminiscent of Major League Baseball player Derek Jeter doesn’t mean that I would pass on anyone who didn’t fit that description to a T. I have standards and to be perfectly honest they have very little to do with the physical and more to do with who the person is in general.

My Standards:

He must be a Christian because I’m a Christian and I’ve been in relationships where we were unequally yoked and let me be the first to tell you that was no walk in the park. He must be driven, I need him to have drive that matches or surpasses my drive. He must have goals (long and short term), I have goals and together we could encourage and motivate each other to achieve our goals while creating new ones in the process. He must be confident, I have a big ‘EGO’ and there is nothing worse than dating an insecure guy. I need him to be like you were so hot that I had to come meet you; and not you were so hot that I just stared at you all night and never made a move. He must treat me special (self explanatory). He must be ambitious and last but certainly not least I have to be attracted to him. That’s all! Some call it arrogant; I call it confident I am not asking for too much I deserve this and more. I’m not requiring anything of the guy that I choose to date than I have to offer myself!

My advice to you is not to settle, set realistic standards and do not waver on them. Until next time…

2 LIVE, LAUGH, & LOVE by SimplyPut

I know that the Mantra…”Live, Laugh, and Love” is a bit cliche, but I choose to live by it. I believe that choosing to be happy is a mindset! I choose to live each and everyday of my life optimistically. I tend not to dwell on the negative but to focus on the blessings that are bestowed upon me each day! I have begun trying new and exciting things. Life is an adventure and I’m seizing each and everyone of them. I believe that laughter can brighten a persons day! By no means am I a comedian but if I can put a smile on someone’s face then I am content. In my daily life I have learned not to take things too seriously. Then there is LOVE… I believe that love can come in many forms. There is the love between parents and their children, best friends, the love for my heavenly father, and even the romantic kind that most people dream of finding with a special person. I feel God’s love for me each and everyday, he provides me with everything I need and even most of the things that I want! I have been blessed with a loving and kind family that I am truly grateful for. I am blessed to have friends that are caring, honest, and who always have my best interest at heart! All that’s missing is that one true love that I know God has destined for me. When he finds me I’ll let you know;-)
